Good Draw for 14s

Leeside v Tramore Athletic U14 Div. 3

Tramore Athletic earned a creditable 4:4 draw in this exciting league encounter against a decent Leeside team.
Tramore had the benefit of the wind behind them in the first half and scored two goals from Kieran Murphy and Luke Burton to hold a deserved lead. Taha Al-Salihi on the left wing also provided good support for Tramore's attacking play in the opening period.
Unfortunately for Tramore, Leeside scored a breakaway goal almost immediately to reduce the deficit before Tramore quickly restored their two goal advantage thanks to a wonder strike from distance by Kalem Cashman.
A rare lapse in concentration allowed Leeside to score again on the counter attack to leave Tramore disappointed to go into the break with a slender one goal lead.
Facing into the strong wind in the second half Tramore's centre half partnership of Robert Dermody and Cormac Towe coped well with the expected onslaught, ably helped by fullbacks Jay Gubbins and Shane Aherne.
Tadgh O'Mahony pulled off a number of key saves to keep hopes of an important result alive. However the equaliser for Leeside came after a sustained period of pressure. Despite that setback Tramore refused to let their heads drop.
The centre midfield pairing of Mark Guinnane and Zach Burton showed great determination throughout the game together with Ben O' Gorman on the wing and that spirit was rewarded with a fine breakaway strike from Kalem Cashman to restore Tramore's lead again.
Tramore showed great resistance during the final quarter, coping well with repeated attacks from Leeside. However a late goal to draw the match left Tramore disappointed that the spirit and resolve shown, particularly in the second period, did not result in a victory but instead a creditable 4:4 draw.
