U15 Div 1: Park Utd 1 Tramore Ath 0
Tramore were unlucky to go down by the only goal of the game in Mitchelstown. Played in near Arctic conditions Tramore played with the aid of the strong breeze in the first half but despite dominating for long spells, a free kick of the crossbar from Andrew O'Connell was the closest they came to taking the lead. The wind seemed to pick up after the break and playing in to the teeth of the gale Tramore were always going to be on the back foot. Unfortunatel, Park got the crucial goal early in the half after excellent keeper Kevin Horgan had initially parried an ins winging corner kick. For the remaining thirty minutes Park dominated possession but credit to Tramore who kept battling, and on a rare foray forward Emmet Sheehan might have rescued a point but for the alert reaction of the Park keeper. Tramore will take heart from a spirited performance and wish a speedy recovery to inspirational centre half Matthew Quigley who badly injured his ankle after an awkward fall. |
